A LITTLE ABOUT ME……..

Oh, ya…that Jeff Wiesner guy.  Everyone tells me I need to write one of these individual justificational biographies so people know who I am, where I’m coming from, and why.  Easier said than done.

I guess if I must define my character, it would only be valid if it were subject to change. (maybe I should run for office!  ha!).  Like Jerry Jeff once sang, “I’m not strange, I’m just like you”.  At least I think I’m not alone in having spent too much time trying to fit in.  I’ve spent most of my life on the road working and driving other musicians’ equipment around the US and Canada, so when I did get home, I felt pretty much a stranger in my own hometown.

In my attempts to become domesticated, things never went according to the master plan.  Like around 1990 when I opened a two-fold business called “The Green Earth & 4 Peace Music”:  an environmentally friendly store that promoted recycling and offered bulk biodegradable soaps, etc., and a small-scale music store favoring folk instruments, cds, and the like.  As most of you know, these were still the early years of our environmental consciousness.  Old habits were hard to break for the City of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; and long-standing waste-disposal policies were not about to be changed.  Since co-operation was not on their minds, it was clear that if we wanted it done, we had to do it ourselves.  So I built a recycling trailer and some of the conscious folk brought their recyclables to me, which I would take to Barron, Wi for recycling at my own expense.  To make a long story short, I ran out of ammo while fighting City Hall; and reluctantly had to accept temporary defeat.  Guess my timing is better in music.

But enough about me.  What do you think of me?  (someone take his pen away, please)

Anyway, I’ve been writing songs for 30-some years all across this country, and have developed my own unique sound that I like to call “grass-rock”.  I’m having such a good time playing that I’m hanging up the spurs (steering wheel) and hope to bring my music to you somehow someday soon.

I try to write and sing what’s important to us all, but sometimes I just have fun.  Like Guy Clark once said, “You should write about what you know about”.  If I did that, I might be doing a lot of humming, and since I can’t live with such restrictions, here they are, and I truly hope you’ll enjoy.
